INTERMITTENT PRESSURE HOLDING

Short motions. Long holds. Recharge on demand.

Our intermittent-holding solution combines a standard motor, PLC pressure feedback and an accumulator. After clamping, the accumulator supports pressure while the motor runs only when needed—especially suited to long holding phases.
  1. 01

    Build pressure

A standard three-phase induction motor drives the pump to establish the pressure required for the motion.

  2. 02

    Hold with the motor stopped

During the holding phase, the motor stops and an accumulator supports pressure holding.

  3. 03

    Recharge on demand

A programmable logic controller (PLC) reads the pressure signal, restarts the motor below a set threshold and stops it at the set pressure.

ENGINEERING INPUTS

Start with these three inputs.

  1. 01

Clamping pressure, hold duration and motion flow

  2. 02

Ambient heat, dust, oil temperature and protection

  3. 03

Connections, maintenance window and machine control signals

New machine integration

Agree space, ports, electrical interfaces and the motion sequence during machine design, integrating energy-saving holding into the platform.

Existing machine retrofit

Record current energy and cycle time, inspect cylinders, valves and pipework, then agree retained components, retrofit scope and downtime.

RELATED CUSTOMER STORY

Low-pressure casting mould clamping

Project duty: 100–140 s holding time; 6.3 MPa system pressure.

Review ambient conditions, cooling and protection separately. This case pressure exceeds the 4.5 MPa SC-QT table rating and does not establish a direct replacement with those configurations.

ENERGY INTO VALUE

Less idle running. More value.

Make each holding phase count. Stop the motor after motion, then recharge when pressure reaches the set threshold, reducing energy use and heat from continuous idle running.

Save 75% or more in short-motion, long-hold applications. Turn reduced electricity use into lower running costs and get more value from every clamping cycle.

Casting fixture hydraulics: define each phase

A hydraulic power unit for mold clamping must support the closing, clamping, holding and opening sequence. For casting pressure holding, record temperature, pressure, allowable drop and cooling conditions. Compare the required duty with the selected model rating; the higher-pressure casting case is not evidence of a direct replacement by a standard catalogue unit.
